SOLID TIMBER FINISHES

Once you have selected the timber you like, you will need to select a coating to finish the product. Flooring Services Australia specialises in two main finishes:

• Solvent-based Polyurethane - traditional scented oil that uses chemicals. Available in all gloss levels from matt to satin, semi-gloss to high gloss.
• Water-based Polyurethane - toxin free so is suitable for environments occupied by children or people with allergies. Dries quicker (job completed quicker). Some products are hard-er wearing than solvent based, however it is more difficult to attain as high a gloss finish as solvent based products. It is also slightly more expensive than solvent-based polyurethane.

At the same stage, you may elect to include a stain in the coating to change the colour of the product, increase its lustre and further protect your flooring.
